Holiday open house is set at Davis Center in Mill Creek

The Shop in the Gardens, housed in the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, will stage a holiday open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Nov. 4.
Shoppers will receive a 20 percent discount on all Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise.
The gift shop sees year-round traffic because of its selection of merchandise that is offered at various price points. The shop is noted for its home decor, seasonal tabletop items, unique jewelry, handbags, scarves and hats and an array of garden and nature items.
A selection of wine cork holders, decor and holiday serving pieces also are available along with fragrant Habersham wax pottery bowls.
The 2013 Mill Creek MetroParks calendar and holiday cards with photos by local photographer Scott Lanz will be available, with proceeds benefitting the Ohio Woodland Garden project.
Also featured will be the new children’s book, “A Walk In The Garden” by local Chaney High School Students, and children’s author Dar Hosta, will be on hand.
Members of the Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens can attend a cocktail party from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and receive 20 percent off everything. Wine and culinary treats will be offered along with sounds of the season. Gift-wrapping will be done for free. Memberships will be available at the door.
A special raffle for a 5-foot-6-inch Jacqueline Kent life-size Santa worth $1,500 will take place during November. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will take place Dec. 1.
