BOARDMAN

A national makeup brand known for its philanthropic efforts is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank for a food drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Ulta Cosmetics, Shop at Boardman Park, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

The “Beauty Gives Back” event is sponsored by Tarte Cosmetics of New York.

Mary Hall, of Canfield, Tarte’s regional education manager and QVC makeup artist, said the company encourages local philanthropy in addition to its global efforts to support those in need.

“We expect a lot of people to come out that day, and we thought it would be a great time, right before Thanksgiving, to support a local food bank that does so much for this community,” she added.

For every two items donated, guests will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of two $200 Tarte gift baskets.

Tarte makeup artists also will be on hand, doing consultations by appointment. An appointment is not needed to donate. However, those who want to secure a spot for a consultation can contact Ulta at 330-629-6276.

The company, which formulates without ingredients such as dyes, fragrances, parabens and petrochemicals, believes in social responsibility and is part of a cooperative in the Amazon. Every year, Tarte gives back a portion of proceeds to the Sustainable Amazon Partnership.

Second Harvest Food Bank Of The Mahoning Valley gathers, stores and distributes food to hunger relief organizations in the tri-county area. The organization’s 153-member agencies feed more than 14,000 people each week.
