Pianist to perform several recitals

The New Music Society will present pianist Avguste Antonov in concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the recital hall of Bliss Hall on the Youngstown State University campus. Bliss Hall is on Wick Avenue, next to the McDonough Museum of Modern Art.

Free-will donations will be collected to fund further concerts and scholarships for student composers at the Dana School of Music at YSU.

Antonov also will give concerts at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Institute of American Art; 11 a.m. Nov. 2 in Bliss recital hall; and 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Coventry St.

These concerts also will include works by members of the New Music Society.

Antonov specializes in new music. He has premiered works by such composers as Carter Pann, Raina Murnak, Matthew Lewis, Till Meyn, Matthew Saunders, Robert Rollin and Marc Parella.

He has performed across the globe and has been a soloist with numerous symphonies. Antonov teaches at The Master’s Touch School of Music and Performing Arts in Grapevine, Texas, where he has an extensive studio.

Antonov will feature works by American composers.
