West Side man, 71, robbed at gunpoint in home invasion

Police are looking for two men responsible for kicking in the door to a 71-year-old man’s home and robbing him at gunpoint this week.
According to police, the elderly Bouquet Avenue homeowner heard loud noises coming from outside his West Side home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He looked outside and noticed a red pickup truck idling in front of his home.
The man told police he was walking toward the side door to investigate when the door was kicked in and he saw two white males in their early 20s wearing blue jeans.
One of the men was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and carried a gun, while the other man appeared to be about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a heavier build.
One of the men ordered the elderly homeowner to lie on the floor. The victim did as he was told, and the unarmed intruder put his foot to the victim’s back and told him to stay in that position.
The victim said the armed man, after a short period of time, put the gun to the back of his head and said, “Give me the money.” Police said the victim told the intruders he had no money.
One of the men began to rifle through the victim’s pockets, removing his wallet, which contained personal papers and about $200. The men took the wallet and ran away.
The victim said he got up off the floor in time to see the pickup truck leaving the area headed toward Mahoning Avenue.
Witnesses told police two men were seen running out of the house and jumping into the red truck.
The victim told police he was not injured in the home invasion.
