Argus Lodge 545 Free and Accepted Masons honored Edwin J. Anderson II, one of its longtime members, with the Mason of the Year Award on Oct. 12.

The award was established to honor a brother who has diligently served Argus Lodge and is viewed by its master and officers as a mason who has singled himself out through his actions in the past year.

Anderson has been a member of the lodge for 42 years and is now the captain of the Fellowcraft Team for the lodge.

Anderson served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1970 to 1977 as a specialist fifth class.

He attended Kent State University and its ROTC program and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

He and his brothers, Bill and Bob, worked for their father, Elmer, who owned Anderson Suburban Delivery in Youngstown until 1981. He worked for Central Transportation from 1982 to 1995 and then moved on to Conway Freight, where he is account executive.

Anderson is a member of Scottish Rite of Youngstown and is a trustee at Boardman United Methodist Church.

He and his wife, Sharie, live in Boardman. They have two children.

He enjoys camping, fishing, golfing and his grandchildren.
