Memory screening

AUSTINTOWN

Shepherd of the Valley facilities in Howland, Niles and Boardman and At Home With Shepherd Home Health are offering free, confidential memory screenings by appointment only on National Memory Screening Day, Nov. 13.

The screening takes about five minutes and consists of a series of questions and tasks. It is designed to promote proper detection of memory loss and provide education about successful aging. The results are not a diagnosis, and those who score poorly or who have normal scores but are still concerned should follow up with their physician or another qualified health care professional.

The National Memory Screenings initiative is part of Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s (AFA) efforts to raise awareness of memory concerns and educate the public about the importance of early detection and successful aging. The AFA encourages screenings for adults with memory concerns, a family history of Alzheimer’s disease, or who want to check their memory now and have the results for future comparison.

Refreshments will be offered at all locations. For information or to make an appointment, call the location of your choice.
