Gov. Kasich talks about bills pending before lame-duck Legislature session

COLUMBUS — Bank-tax reform, an increase in the oil and gas production tax and the possible privatization of the Ohio Turnpike are among the issues Gov. John Kasich is eyeing heading into the post-election legislative lame duck session.

Kasich told Statehouse reporters today that anything that doesn't get done in the final weeks of the general assembly will be pushed into the new one next year, potentially becoming part of his next biennial budget.

"We're busy preparing what we're going to be doing next year," Kasich said. "And those things that are our priorities that don't get done in lame duck, we're going to stick them in our budget, those things we feel strongly about."

Kasich said he planned to meet with legislative leaders this week to discuss the final weeks of the session and the potential passage of certain bills.
