Warren man pleads innocent to homicide

WARREN

Daron Warfield Jr., 23, of Lane Drive Southwest, who was accused in a homicide earlier this year, has pleaded innocent to three counts of felonious assault in another incident.

Warfield was arrested Friday on warrants charging him with shooting at three people Oct. 6 at a 1290 East Market St. BP gas station.

Police said the 29-year-old driver reported pumping gas at 12:20 a.m., and a known person shot at him and his two passengers from the corner of the parking lot before speeding away.

No one was injured, but three of the bullets struck the front passenger part of the Cadillac. Police recovered nine spent shell casings at the scene.

Judge Thomas Gysegem entered an innocent plea to the charges Monday in Warren Municipal Court and set bond at $250,000.

If convicted, Warfield could get up to 24 years in prison.

Warfield was charged with murder by Warren police in the Jan. 12 killing of Domin’Que Hugley, 21, of Saratoga Avenue Southwest, but a Trumbull County grand jury later refused to indict him on the charge.

Hugley was killed on Third Street Southwest near Highland Avenue. Police believe the motive was robbery.

A second man, also 21, was shot during the robbery but survived.
