UAW praises Obama for saving auto industry, jobs

YOUNGSTOWN

United Auto Workers, including Bob King, its national president, praised President Barack Obama today for rescuing the auto industry.

“Ohio would still be in a deep recession if it was not for President Obama standing behind American companies and standing behind American workers,” King said at the press conference outside the Mahoning County Board of Elections in Youngstown.

About 125 people, several of who are UAW members, attended the rally.

Because of the leadership of Obama, a Democrat, not only was the American auto industry saved with the 2009 federal bailout, but Obama has “done more to support American manufacturing than any president in recent history,” King said.

As for Monday’s presidential debate, King said Obama proved he is “so knowledgeable on foreign affairs,” and that he is a “real strong leader.”

Earlier today, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback said that fellow Republican Mitt Romney “looked like the president much more than the president.”
