Kansas governor says Romney ‘looked like the president’
YOUNGSTOWN
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback said today that fellow Republican Mitt Romney, the party’s presidential nominee, “really cleaned up” in Monday’s debate with President Barack Obama.
“He looked like the president much more than the president,” Brownback said this morning outside the Mahoning County Board of Elections in Youngstown. “I thought he did a fabulous job.”
Romney’s key point during the debate was “you can’t have a strong foreign policy without a strong economy,” Brownback said. “You’ve got to have that strong economy. It’s a very fundamental basis for our foreign policy.”
Brownback is campaigning through northeast Ohio today in support of Romney by bus as part of the “Commit to Mitt Early Vote Express Tour.”
In a prepared statement, Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern said Obama “dominated” the debate by “outlining a clear vision to make America safer and once again displaying why he is the president. Meanwhile, Romney clearly failed the commander-in-chief test.”
