Trumbull group begins its winter crisis heating program

The Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road SW, has begun its winter crisis program for this year, which runs Nov. 1 to March 31.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria: gas and/or electric service is off, threat of service being disconnected, need to establish new service or pay to transfer service, or less than 25 percent of heating fuel in the tank.

Applicants must have photo identification, Social Security cards for everyone in the home, gas bill or past fuel oil receipt and electric bill.

Also, total household income must be provided for all members of the household for the past three months for monthly income and for the past 13 weeks for employment income.

For funds or income, other than wages that are directly deposited, applicants must provide bank statements for the past three months, if monthly, and the past 13 weeks, if income is otherwise.

Employment income includes all pay stubs, child-support printouts and breakdowns of all gross income received within the past 13 weeks, per each pay date.

Applicants must present proof of income for all monthly income received including rental draft checks, Social Security, SSI, SSDI, VA or cash assistance.

Mondays will be a walk-in day, with 25 clients being seen in the morning and 25 clients in the afternoon. Tuesday through Friday mornings, walk-ins will also be accepted.

The remainder of the day will be by appointment only, unless it is a holiday.

During walk-in days, the client will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
