Programs focus on herbs, health

Registration is due by Friday for one of the Jennings Environmental Education Center programs that focus on the healing and health-giving qualities of herbs starting at 2 p.m. Nov. 4.

Both programs will feature Leslie Alexander, Ph.D., a medical herbalist at Restoration Herbs in Franklin, Pa. She will present “Herbs for Healthy Immune Systems: Overview and Discussion,” from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and discuss regional herbs that can be used medicinally to stimulate and support the immune system and teach how and when to use them. This free program does not require preregistration.

A comprehensive workshop from 4 to 6 p.m., “Herbs for Healthy Immune Systems: Medicine Making Intensive,” will follow the introductory presentation.

Alexander will explain and demonstrate how to make herbal infusions, decoctions and tinctures. Participants will have the chance to make herbal preparations, and each participant will take home an herbal tincture they prepare at the event.

This program is for people 18 and older and requires pre-payment of $25 per person by Friday.
