Hadley’s individual title leads Boardman to D-I team crown

Boardman junior Mark Hadley cruised to the individual title and helped the Spartans capture the team crown at Saturday’s Division I district cross country meet at Malone University.
Hadley’s winning time of 15:59.37 easily bested Howland junior Ryan Sullivan (16:22.42) and Boardman junior Alan Burns finished third to help the Spartans finish with 62 points, well ahead of second-place Canton GlenOak (104).
In Division II, West Branch senior Drake Lohnes finished in 16:58.09 to take fourth, while United senior Cole Weikart was an area-best sixth in the Division III race.
On the girls side, Canfield’s Emma Lunne placed first in Division I with a time of 19:07.57 and Boardman’s Jordan Grantonic was fifth.
Salem’s Mallory Maher was second in the Division II race and United’s Allison Parks placed third in Division III.
Regional qualifiers will compete at Boardman High School next weekend followed by the state meet on Nov. 3 in Columbus.
