Phantoms drop 4th straight

Staff report

Sioux City, iowa

The Youngstown Phantoms’ road woes continued Friday night against the Sioux City Musketeers. The Phantoms surrendered a pair of goals in the first period and the game snowballed into a 5-1 loss.

Second-year center Alexander Dahl scored the only goal for the Phantoms (4-4-0, 8 points), his first of the season. Patrick Spano got the start between the pipes and was overwhelmed by the unrelenting Musketeers attack.

“We had chances,” Phantoms head coach Anthony Noreen said. “The pucks were on our sticks in grade ‘A’ areas. Sometimes when things aren’t going your way, the harder you try, the worse things get. That’s what it seemed like tonight.”

Jake Guentzel, Jared Thomas, Cam Brown, David Henry and Jake Montgomery scored on Spano in the first 34 minutes. Sean Romeo relieved Spano and turned away 16 shots in 26 minutes of relief.

Dahl’s goal came in the third period.
