Stevie Taylor led the way in South Range’s Division III sectional final victory Thursday with 16 serving points, three aces, 11 kills and six digs. Ashley Shetter added 24 kills and seven digs and Lynnie Ritter had 12 kills and seven blocks. South Range (16-7) plays Waterloo Monday in a district semifinal at Salem High.

GIRLS SOCCER

Division III

United defeated Ursuline 3-1 and two other area schools were beaten Thursday in sectional finals in the Youngstown District. Springfield lost 1-0 to Waterloo on a goal in the second overtime period, and Crestview was beaten by St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-1, also in the second overtime. Monday’s district semifinal match-ups have top-seeded United playing host to Waterloo and Aquinas traveling to Canton Central Catholic.

In the Kent district, top-seeded Champion advanced Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Pymatuning Valley. Also, Bristol defeated Warren JFK 1-0 with a goal in the first overtime period, Rootstown blanked LaBrae 2-0, and Garrettsville Garfield stopped Badger 1-0. Monday’s district semifinal match-ups are Bristol at Champion and Rootstown at Garfield.
