Hey! Gimme back my truck!

Police said a man was abducted after he tried to prevent his vehicle from being stolen.

Martin L. Stewart, 44, of New Castle, Pa., was arrested after police said he stole a truck while the owner was in the vehicle’s bed. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday when the owner saw Stewart, who was followed by another suspect in a Ford Explorer, try to steal his truck at the 2400 block of South Avenue, said police.

According to reports, the owner jumped in the bed as it was driving away. The owner was in the rear of the vehicle as it headed north on state Route 7. Officers said the victim used wood from the truck’s bed to hit the rear glass in an effort to get Stewart’s attention.

Police said Stewart stopped the truck near the exit ramp on Himrod Avenue. Witnesses said Stewart ran from the truck and got into the Ford Explorer that was following. The owner then got into his truck and rammed the Ford Explorer, said police. The Ford sped away, while Stewart ran from the scene. He was arrested by police who were in the area.

Stewart faces charged of receiving stolen property and abduction and is being held in the Mahoning County jail.

The second suspect’s whereabouts are unknown.
