Canfield grad is Akron homecoming king

Canfield High School graduate Anthony Stratis was crowned Homecoming King at the University of Akron.

Stratis, son of Dimitrios and Patricia Stratis of Canfield, is a senior with a double major in political science and nursing with minors in philosophy and law.

He was nominated by The National Society of Leadership and Success.

To be named king involves a combination of student voting and a presentation of why you should be king.

Stratis gave his presentation on service and leadership. He has been actively involved on campus as a student leader.

Stratis has bee active in the National Society of Leadership and Success, Undergraduate Student Government, Sigma Alpha Lambda Scholastic and Leadership Honorary, Choose Ohio First STEM Scholars Program, Residence Hall Programming Board, Residence Hall Council, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, Sigma Lambda Honorary and the Ohio Student Government Association, where, as vice president, he represented all 14 of the Public Universities in of Ohio.

Stratis also worked beside President Barack Obama at an Akron Rally as chief press coordinator.

He has also been active in the community, totaling more than 100 hours of community service.
