Suspected burglar killed during Ohio home invasion

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — A man suspected of burglarizing a northern Ohio home has been fatally shot by one of its residents.

Police say the 29-year-old man was believed to be stealing electronics from the home in Elyria when he was killed early this morning.

Police have not identified the deceased suspect or shooter.

Authorities said the couple at the home had reported a separate burglary Thursday in which their television was stolen. They told police they were awakened early today by a man in their living room who they believed was taking remaining items.

Police said one of the residents called out to the man who then reportedly lunged at the resident. Authorities say the resident, who was carrying a handgun, then shot the man.

The incident is under investigation.
