Members of the Lloyd Elementary School PTA found an interesting way to welcome autumn and raise money for the school during its fall festival on Sept. 28.
“We sell baked goods and crafts and the money raised will be used for events for the kids throughout the school year. Students also get a chance to come out of their classes and each child gets a small pumpkin and a picture taken of them,” said event coordinator Nicole Cain.
The event offered a variety of treats from Buckeye necklaces to fall-inspired pins and pencils. There was also a variety of speciality-made baked items, such as chocolate brownies, cupcakes and more. PTA members were pleased with the turnout and appreciated the support from the community. Teachers were also excited to participate and were grateful for the PTA’s efforts.
Intermediate Specialist Laurine Grischow attributes a good relationship between teachers and parents to a better atmosphere for students and a more productive environment for everyone.
“When we have a high morale at school, it makes people want to learn and makes a positive experience for everyone involved. Our Austintown PTA is wonderful and they are always supporting the teachers here,” Grischow said.
