Boys basketball academy begins Oct. 29

The third annual boys basketball Skills Academy will begin on Oct. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Canfield High School. Arrive ready to practice. Flyers and schedules will be available at Canfield Village Middle School front office, Canfield High School athletic office or at www.mmuck7.weebly.com under ‘Youth Basketball.’ The cost of the academy will be $30 per player. Canfield soccer ties Marlington

The Canfield varsity boys soccer team tied Marlington 3-3 on Oct. 13. Dylan Seybert had two goals and an assist, while Michael Piersante scored the last goal to tie the game. Canfield goalkeeper Andrik Massaro had six saves and Canfield outshot Marlington 11-7. The junior varsity game ended in 2-2 tie.

Canfield defeats Austintown

The Canfield varsity volleyball team defeated Austintown 25-23, 25-8, 25-10 on Oct. 6. The leading attacker for Canfield was Sabrina Mangapora with 18 kills. Leading setters, Jamie Raforth and Emma Hartshorn, had 26 assists. The leading defender was Rachael Raforth with 17 digs. The junior varsity team lost to Austintown 25-21, 25-22.

Youngstown Orthopaedic Saturday sports clinic

Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, has started. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season.

These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield. More information is available at www.youngstownortho.com.
