Girls soccer defeats Canton McKinley

The Austintown girls soccer team defeated Canton McKinley 12-0 in a sectional tournament game. Fitch got goals from Lauren Bower (2), Kaelyn Puhalla (2), Meghan Shonce (3), Jayme Ritchie (2), Megan McNally, Maddy Miller, and Krista Martin with assists by Kaelyn Puhalla (2), Maia Totterdale (2), Meghan Shonce, and Krista Martin. Fitch attempted 27 shots on goal, 13 of which were corner kicks. Goalkeeper Jessica Scott saved one shot.

Austintown volleyball loses to Canfield

The Austintown varsity volleyball team was defeated by Canfield 25-23, 25-8, 25-10 on Oct. 6. The leading attackers for Austintown were Maura Bianco and Taylor Herman with five kills. Tiffany Rapovy was the leading setter with five assists, while Alana Callahan was the leading defender with 11 digs. Leading blockers, Maura Bianco and Taylor Herman, had a total of two blocks. The junior varsity team defeated Canfield 25-21, 25-22.

Youngstown Orthopaedic Saturday sports clinic

Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, is underway. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season.

These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield. More information is available at www.youngstownortho.com.
