Alumni raffle winners collect their prizes

Winners of the Austintown Alumni Association’s annual raffle were announced at the Hall of Fame football game on Sept. 21. The first-prize winner of $500 cash was Bill Soccorsy of Scottsdale, Arizona, the second-prize basket containing $250 in local gift cards was won by Debbie Calcagni, and the third-prize dinner for two at Rachel’s Restaurant went to Marty Dyer.

Bill Soccorsy purchased his ticket when he attended his 50th class reunion in August. When contacted by phone, he said “winning was the icing on the cake” for his reunion trip.

The Alumni Association uses profits from the raffle to award scholarships to graduating Fitch seniors and support mini grants for classroom instruction throughout the system.

The association also sells a variety of alumni shirts, caps, yearbooks dating up to 1995, and Wendell August Forge ornaments depicting the former and present Fitch buildings. Membership is open to Austintown graduates and friends of Austintown Schools. For more information, contact alumni president Patti Griffin at 330-793-4799.
