LOUIE TODAY: Hawaii's HOPE Probation, fracking, bunnies, revolution

Louie will talk with Judge Steven Alm about his program Hawaii's Opportunity Probation with Enforcement — HOPE Probation, and Sunday's National Geographic Special: DRUGS, Inc.

The first of its kind in the nation, the program imposes proportionate jail time swiftly and with certainty as a sanction for a positive drug test or other probation violations.

An independent study of offenders in HOPE, the majority of whom are felony drug offenders at high risk of recidivism, showed that HOPE probationers did far better than members of a control group in regular probation.

Judge Alm also presides over the 1st Circuit’s Adult Drug Court program, an assignment he assumed in March 2011.

He supervises more than 2,000 felony probationers in HOPE and 150 in the Drug Court program.

Before his judicial appointment, Judge Alm served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii from 1994 until 2001. Before that, he was deputy prosecuting attorney for the city and county of Honolulu. During that time, he served as a felony team supervisor and director of the district and family court division and personally handled complex homicide cases.

Then YSU Professor Ray Biersdorfer returns to talk about the dangers of fracking and injection wells, Youngstown Councilman Mike Ray will provide an update on council's intention regarding fracking and the legislation passed Wednesday night.

Also, Dana Donnelly, Midwest Bunfest organizer, will gives a preview of this year's festival coming in two weeks to the Columbus area.

The festival and exposition offer a place for bunny owners and enthusiast to gather.  Participants will include people looking to pamper their bunnies, those looking to acquire a fuzzy-love of their own and need information, those who have bunny and bunny-related products to offer, and of course, the bunnies themselves. Information and advice on house rabbit support will be offered.

Finally, William W. Fawell returns to talk about his book: "New American Revolution, " a historic review of revolution (defined as a governmental bankruptcy) and the constitutional theory and role of the public forum as the foundation of the U.S. Constitution.

The book suggests that America has entered the early stage of revolution and identifies those factions that have stolen the public forum by taking over the constitutional power/duty of Congress specified in Article I, Sec. 8.

The book provides Falwell's contention that the constitutional overthrow of the federal government is not only possible, but critical in avoiding the horror of revolution descending on America and the entire world.
