Forum rises for prizes in fall show


YOUNGSTOWN

Garden Forum of Greater Youngstown sponsored its Fall Garden and Horticulture Show on Sept. 15 and 16 at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Co-chairwomen were Rose Marie Roth and Sheila Bowman. Judging the show was Cleo Lehman and Jane Long from Canton, and student judge Celine Hallier from Louisville, Ohio.

Winning blue ribbons in design were Pearl Marlos and Mary Lou Flere from Gleaners Garden Club; Rosemary Fuller and Sheila Bowman from Nature Lovers Garden Club; and Dan Burns from Ikebana.

Sheila Bowman won the special award for design. Winning blue ribbons in horticulture from the public were William Black, Yvonne Fazard and Harry Potts. Other blue ribbon winners are Charlene Flesch, Immaculate Heart of Mary; Peggy Potts, Johnny Appleseed Garden Club; Lynn Hoffman and Rodney Toth, the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown; Pearl Marlos and Rose Marie Roth, Gleaners; Mary Schall, Austintown Garden Club; Barb Ginter, Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society: and Martha Murphy, Sheila Bowman, Rosemary Fuller and Linda Vuletich, Nature Lovers.
