Suspect arrested in Warren man’s death

The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested David R. Martin, 28, in Tallmadge on Tuesday morning in the Sept. 27 murder of Jeremy Cole, 21.

An arrest warrant charging Martin with murder was issued Oct. 2. Martin has been listed in the U.S. Marshals Top 5 most- wanted list for two weeks.

Martin has addresses on Oak Circle Southwest and Belmont Street in Warren but has spent time in Cuyahoga County, committing crimes there that landed him in prison for more than 10 years.

Bill Bolden with the U.S. Marshals Service said Martin was apprehended at an apartment in the 1500 block of Brittain Road belonging to someone Martin knows.

Martin was brought back to Warren about 11 a.m., questioned by Warren police and then taken to the Trumbull County jail, where he awaits an arraignment hearing this morning in Warren Municipal Court.

Martin has no previous court cases in Warren Municipal Court or the common-pleas courts in Mahoning or Trumbull counties. His booking information at the Trumbull County jail says he was born in Warren.

Martin was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted June 20, 2007, in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court of attempted robbery with a specification of using a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and drug possession.

Martin, who was listed as living on Oak Circle in his Cuyahoga County court records, was released from prison in April.

In June 2001, when Martin was 17, he was convicted in Cuyahoga County of aggravated robbery with a specification of using a firearm and was sentenced to six years in prison.

Warren police said Cole, of Oak Street Southwest, was found shot at his house, where he lived with a woman.

The woman also was hit by a gunshot to the hand and was found in the road on Oak Circle.
