Shooting victim tells cops he doesn’t know the gunman

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating a Wednesday shooting on the city’s North Side that sent a 57-year-old man to the hospital.

Mark Haskins, of Youngstown, was found with several gunshot wounds about 11:50 a.m. in front of a house on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bissell and Kensington avenues.

Haskins was unresponsive when police arrived, according to reports. Police recovered eight shell casings in the front lawn.

Paramedics revived the him and he was able to speak briefly with police, telling them he did not know who shot him, before being taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Capt. Mark Milstead said the investigation is ongoing and so far, police have been told a vehicle drove near house, the shooter exited, fired at the victim and returned to the vehicle.

Police Chief Rod Foley said Haskins remained in critical condition Wednesday night.
