POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:
LIBERTY
Oct. 11
Trespassing: Police issued a summons to Eliud K. Kesio, 35, of 290 Colonial Drive, Liberty, after responding to an unwanted person in the area. An intoxicated Kesio had caused a disturbance, officers said.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 100 block of East Montrose Street forced open a vehicle’s window before removing $800 and a stereo faceplate.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An official with Falcon Transportation Co., 4944 Belmont Ave., reported an Illinois truck driver failed to return a tractor-trailer to the company’s Mount Vernon, Ill., yard after having made a stop in Dallas.
Theft: Justin G. Stone, 27, of 1116 Ohio Ave., McDonald, was given a summons after four cooling fans and two other items were stolen from Big Lots, 3491 Belmont Ave.
Oct. 12
Domestic violence: Authorities arrested 46-year-old Linda J. Kelly at her residence, 3740 Loganway Ave., Liberty, and charged her with the crime after Kelly’s boyfriend alleged she had struck his face during an argument. The accuser had redness to the affected area.
Theft: A woman reported her $150 cellphone stolen from her apartment in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive led to a charge of possession of drug-abuse instruments against 28-year-old Eric Hopson, 1220 N. Park Ave., Warren, when, police said, he admitted that a hypodermic needle in the car was his.
Oct. 13
Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen while at a Belmont Avenue grocery store.
Menacing: A Roosevelt Boulevard woman said a Youngstown woman continually pounded on and kicked the accuser’s front door.
Theft: A $200 iPod device was missing from a vehicle in the 2500 block of Cardinal Drive.
Trespassing: Police charged 43-year-old Scott G. Moretti, 511 E. Viola Ave., Youngstown, and 37-year-old William L. Tolle, 5925 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, Hubbard, with criminal trespassing and complicity to criminal trespassing, respectively, after checking the area around a former township motel. Officers found a large opening on a fence and other evidence someone had trespassed on the property, a report said.
Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen from his car in the 500 block of East Liberty Street.
Criminal damaging: A key was used to cause an estimated $500 in damage to a truck’s passenger side in the 900 block of Pinecrest Road.
Oct. 14
Arrests: Officers responded to a vehicle that struck a curb on state Route 304 before charging 24-year-old Andrew N. Dean, 3107 Hadley Ave., Liberty, with operating a vehicle impaired. Also, Edward J. Humphreys, 21, of 670 Creekside Drive, Hubbard, faced a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated when, police said, he interfered as authorities conducted sobriety tests on Dean, then refused to obey officers.
Arrests: Authorities responded to a fight in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue before filing disorderly-conduct charges against Shantae M. Findley, 1465 Townsend, Liberty, and Brittany Thomas, 840 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown. The two 24-year-old women yelled profanities at three other women, and Findley spit at the women, police said.
Oct. 15
Identity fraud: A Norwick Avenue woman learned that her income-tax preparer tried to electronically file her tax return but received an error code, apparently indicating someone without authorization had filed the return and received the woman’s refund using her Social Security number.
Bad check: A Youngstown man reportedly rented a dehumidifier from Rental Corral, 1530 W. Gypsy Lane, with a $144 check written on a closed account.
GIRARD
Oct. 13
Pursuit: Charges of operating a vehicle impaired, failure to comply with police and reckless operation of a motor vehicle were pending against a man after police said he led them on a vehicular pursuit as they tried to pull his truck over on U.S. Route 422. The man was hospitalized after his truck struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to flip over, a report showed.
Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of Powers Avenue through a window. A 36-inch flat-screen TV was taken.
Oct. 14
Menacing: A man in the 1500 block of Norwood Avenue said another man threatened to harm the accuser.
Arrests: Police took into custody Robert F. Peyatt, 48, and Jennifer J. Peyatt, no age listed, both of 17 W. Wilson Ave., Girard. Jennifer Peyatt was wanted on a warrant from Weathersfield Township; Robert Peyatt was wanted on a warrant from the Trumbull County 911 center.
Oct. 15
Theft: A $200 global-positioning- system device was removed from a car in the 300 block of St. Clair Avenue.
Criminal damaging: A Jeep Wrangler’s driver’s-side window was broken in the 300 block of East Broadway Avenue. The estimate was $300.
