Murder suspect arraigned today in Warren Municipal Court

WARREN — David R. Martin, 28, charged with the murder of 21-year-old Jeremy Cole, was arraigned this morning in Warren Municipal Court, where Judge Terry Ivanchak set bond at $1.5 million.

So far, Martin is charged with the Sept. 27 murder of Cole, but based on what Melissa Putnam said after court, Martin is likely to face additional charges.

Putnam showed reporters the gunshot wound to the back of her head she said Martin inflicted on her after tying her up and shooting Cole.

Doctors removed the bullet, which lodged in the back of her head, and she spent four days in ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, she said.

Martin is due back in Warren Municipal Court on Tuesday, but Judge Ivanchak told the dozens of family and friends of Cole and Putnam in court there is a “strong possibility” a county grand jury might indict him before then.

That would eliminate the need for another hearing in municipal court.
