Man shot in chest on Youngstown’s North Side

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating a Wednesday shooting on the city’s North Side that sent one man to the hospital.

Officers were called to a house about 11:50 a.m. on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bissell and Kensington avenues. A man was shot in the chest, but was responsive enough to speak briefly with police, said Capt. Mark Milstead.

Milstead said the investigation is ongoing and so far, police have been told a vehicle drove near house, the shooter exited, fired at the victim and returned to the vehicle. Police recovered eight shell casings in the front lawn.

The victim’s identity is not being released by police at this time.
