ASHLAND, Ohio

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person was killed when a semitrailer and a smaller truck collided in northern Ohio and at least one of the vehicles crashed into a house, which caught fire.

A patrol dispatcher says the driver of the smaller truck was killed in the crash Tuesday afternoon north of Ashland, near the village of Polk. The dispatcher says no one in the house was injured.

The patrol says two passengers in the smaller truck and the driver of the semitrailer were taken to hospitals.

It’s not clear what caused the crash. The patrol says the smaller truck pulling a gooseneck trailer was headed east on state Route 302, and the semitrailer was southbound on U.S. 42.

No other details were available Tuesday evening.
