Warren man faces assault charges

Staff report

WARREN

A 30-year-old Peace Avenue Northwest man is charged with felonious assault and resisting arrest after his former girlfriend said he bit her, hit her in the head with a dresser drawer, stomped on her face with boots, cut her thigh with a steak knife and threatened to kill her.

Aaron Perry is being held in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond.

The woman said Perry kept her from leaving her apartment by taking her clothes. The attack was prompted by the woman’s reporting earlier that night that Perry had used her car without permission, she said.

When police arrived at her apartment at 3:45 a.m. Monday, they found the 27-year-old victim with bite marks on her face, her right eye swollen half shut and a laceration to her lip.

If he’s convicted of the charges, Perry could get up to 10 years in prison.

The woman, who said she escaped from Perry when he fell asleep, went to the hospital.

Perry entered an innocent plea Monday in Warren Municipal Court on a misdemeanor driving-under-suspension charge related to a traffic stop that followed the woman’s call to police regarding her car.

Perry returns to court today to be arraigned on the felony charges.
