McDONALD

The McDonald board of education voted 5-0 accept the resignation of high school teacher and varsity baseball coach Alan Stanley effective Oct. 9.

McDonald police have an ongoing investigation of allegations against Stanley, and are also working with the school, the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s office on the investigation.

Superintendent Ken Halbert said Stanley was placed on paid administrative leave on Sept. 17.

He has been with the district for four years and taught high school chemistry and advanced chemistry.

He also was varsity baseball coach.

McDonald Police Lt. Bill Woodley said that the department, in an investigation that began Aug. 27, is investigating allegations against Stanley, 48, that he had inappropriate relationships with students and former students and allegations of inappropriate contact with more than one student.

Woodley said, “We have found so far that he was sending text messages to students, some of which contain sexual innuendoes ... [and] making arrangements for locations they could meet, such as his residence.”

No criminal charges have been filed.

“Indeed Mr. Stanley was prudent in resigning because he was going to be fired, and he was well aware of that reality,” Halbert said.
