The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport’s “Travel Bank – Air Service Initiative” has reached more than $3.5 million in pledges.
Thus far, at least 70 business and individuals have said they would use daily service from the airport if it was offered.
A travel bank is a list of pledges made by local businesses, large employers and individuals who travel frequently that state what each entity will spend annually on new air service should it be initiated. The purpose is to quantify travel demand for the airline.
Airport officials and some community members have been working to re-establish regularly scheduled commercial air service at the airport, which last was available in 2003, to a hub of a major U.S. airline.
