Kokrak tied for third in PGA event

SAN MARTIN, Calif.

Warren JFK High Jason Kokrak shot a 4-under-par 67 on Saturday to jump into a tie for third place in the PGA Tour’s Frys.com Open.

A strong finish today could earn Kokrak enough to jump into the PGA’s top 125 which would secure him his PGA card for 2013.

Kokrak‘s Saturday round featured an eagle on No. 17. He also shot four birdies and two bogeys.

John Mallinger remains in position for his first PGA Tour victory, shooting a 1-under 70 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round.

The 33-year-old Mallinger had a 15-under 198 total at CordeValle after opening with a 66 and matching the course record with a 62 on Friday.

Sweden’s Jonas Blixt was second after a 66, and Charles Howell III and Kokrak were another stroke back at 12 under. Howell had a 66.

Vijay Singh and Brazil’s Alexandre Rocha were 11 under. They each shot 66.

Today, Kokrak tees off at 1:30 p.m. Singh and Rocha are his playing partners.
