Ken Overholt, former Champion Township trustee and former owner of Overholt’s Champion Pharmacy, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison for filling thousands of improper prescriptions, will remain free for six months because of his poor health.

Overholt’s attorney, Dan Letson, appeared Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Overholt’s behalf, saying Overholt is still too ill to report to prison and received a new court date of March 28, 2013.

Overholt pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated drug trafficking in March 2011. Overholt and two of his pharmacists were convicted of filling prescriptions written by a Middlefield pain doctor for dangerous drugs in quantities as much as 10 times the normal daily amount.
