Canfield hockey hosts open sessions

Canfield Hockey will be hosting a no-cost open house to all fourth through eighth-grade students who want to try playing hockey on Oct. 20 at the Ice Zone in Boardman. Also, there will be four on-ice sessions prior to Thanksgiving for a $20 fee per participant for all four sessions. The session dates are Nov. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Nov. 10 from 10:15-11:15 a.m., Nov. 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and Nov. 17 from 10:15-11:15 a.m.

JV bowling coach needed

Canfield High School is looking for a new junior varsity boys bowling coach for the upcoming season. For more information, contact Gary Cooper, Canfield athletic director, at 330-533-5341, extension 2.

Girls soccer defeats Boardman

The Canfield girls soccer team improved to 12-3-0 as it defeated Boardman 4-0 on Oct. 6. Sophia Mancini had three goals and Bryn Taylor had one. Haylee klacik had one assist. Canfield outshot Boardman 26-4. Canfield’s goalkeepers Victoria Villano and Olivia Governor shared the goal for the shutout. The Canfield junior varsity team won 2-0.

Boys soccer victorious

The Canfield boys soccer team defeated Niles 4-2 at Canfield High School. The Cardinal goals were made by Dylan Seybert, Ronnie Mangie, Michael Piersante, and Brady Clark. Assists were earned by Frank Phillips and Jona Ghossain. Canfield had 18 shots on goal, while Niles took 12. Canfield goalkeeper Andrik Massaro made six saves.

Parent/child scramble

At the parent/child team scramble at Diamondback on Sept. 30, First place went to Team Christman (Mike/Cole) with a 4 under 32. Runner-up was Team Fitzgerald (Marty/Jimmy) with 2 under 34. A total of eight teams participated. Cole Christman is a sixth-grader and Jimmy Fitzgerald is in seventh. Both attend Canfield local schools.

Youngstown Orthopaedic Saturday sports clinic

Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, has started. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season.

These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield. More information is available at www.youngstownortho.com.
