The Ohio Department of Education will release more state report-card data next week.

The state board of education voted to release an expanded report-card spreadsheet including the grade rating, number of state indicators met, attendance rate and performance index.

The state released partial report-card information Sept. 26. The full release was delayed because of an ongoing attendance audit by state Auditor Dave Yost’s office.

ACTION meeting

Youngstown

ACTION, the faith-based community organizing group, will have a public meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave. Organized under the theme “Fire of Faith,” the meeting will give community members an opportunity to speak with public officials and candidates and discuss which policies and priorities are consistent with their faith values.

Co-hosts are the Rev. Edward P. Noga, pastor of St. Patrick, and Rev. Dwayne Heard, president of ACTION and pastor of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.

Invited guests include U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th; state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Boardman, D-33rd; Dr. Connie Hathorn, superintendent of Youngstown schools; city Police Chief Rod Foley; and DeMaine Kitchen, city chief of staff.

Pet-ID event set

A pet-identification event will be at Ohio Puppy, 3620 Belmont Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by the Baltimore Life Insurance Co. in conjunction with Ohio Puppy. The program is provided as a free public service to pet owners in the community. Guests will create a credit-card-sized ID card that will have pertinent information about pet and owner that can be used in case a pet is lost.

Street closed for fair

Youngstown

Wood Street between North Champion and North Walnut streets will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for the Mollie Kessler School Market Day and ACLD Learning Center Street Fair.
