The city’s school superintendent has announced his resignation.
In a Thursday email to Niles City Schools officials, Superintendent Mark Robinson said his resignation will be effective Friday. He said he was offered an opportunity to work for the Ohio Department of Education as a Race to the Top Student Growth and Alignment Specialist. Robinson said he would be one of six in the state; his region would cover Northeast Ohio, including Niles City Schools.
Robinson was hired as the district superintendent 15 months ago.
Niles City School Board President Tony Perrone said the Trumbull County Educational Services center will assist the board in the superintendent hiring process. He said the center will serve as the interim superintendent if an official candidate is not chosen by Friday.
