Poland frosh/JV team beats Struthers

The Poland freshman and junior varsity football teams combined to beat Struthers 34-6 last Saturday.Spec. Teams

Anthony Audi sparked the offense with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Dylan Garver added a TDS on the ground. Quarterback Dom Petrony tossed a five-yard scoring pass to Joe Coudle. Jason Morucci returned a punt 50 yards for a score. Kicker Robert Devito converted three extra points.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by interceptions from Rocky Jeswald, Garver and Petrony and a fumble recovery by Reid Polis fumble.

Eighth-grade team wins, seventh-graders fall

The Poland eighth-grade squad piled up four rushing touchdowns en route to a 25-16 win over Struthers last week.

Quarterback Tony Chiaro supplied two rushing touvhdowns, while Reid Gould and Joey Lawman each added TDs on the ground. Marcus Trevis kicked a PAT.

Lawman had fumble recovery and an interception to pace the Bulldogs defense. Connor Morse added an interception.

Also recognized by Coach Colella for having a big day were Ryan George, David Gessler and Alex Kotouch.

The seventh-grade team lost to Struthers 20-14. The Bulldogs put together a potential game-winning drive in the closing minute, but ran out of time at the Struthers 7 yard-line.
