AUSTINTOWN

Paul J. Wodianka, the 42-year-old Diamond man who was involved in a crash Sept. 21 in Newton Township that killed a Newton Falls couple, has been arraigned on an unrelated probation violation.

Wodianka appeared in Area Court in Austintown Wednesday on a probation violation stemming from a 2011 drug conviction.

The conviction was for driving across the center line on state Route 46 in Austintown on Oct. 10, 2010, and having drugs in his system.

The probation violation was failure to appear in court in March 16, 2012, court officials said.

Wodianka appeared in court on crutches Wednesday, pleaded innocent to the probation violation and was released. He is scheduled to return to court at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

Wodianka was in serious condition last week in St. Elizabeth Health Center after the crash.

The crash, which occurred in Newton Township, killed Jamie Danes, 37, and his wife, Emily, 29, who were driving to their Paris Township, Portage County, home after celebrating their wedding anniversary in Niles.
