A collaborative of people in the fashion industry are hoping to use beauty as a the backdrop to charitable giving this weekend.

LaPanache Magazine will host a free and open to the public fashion show Saturday in hopes of raising money for the American Cancer Society.

The event on Federal Plaza downtown is free, but Kimberly Hines, one of the event organizers, said those attending are asked to bring a donation.

The event is called “Runway to a Cure,” with a theme featuring hairstyles and fashions from various places around the world.

The event will include food, clothes, shoes and eyelash vendors as well as representatives from different hairstyle companies starting about 1 p.m.

Hines said all funds raised from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

She said the goal is to make the event an annual event with funds donated to a different charity each year.

“We wanted to have a charity to which we could donate, but we didn’t want to be exclusive to any one cause. We started ‘Runway to a Cause’ so that we would be able to donate to multiple causes,” she said.

“We hope to raise at least a couple thousand dollars.”

The runway show begins at 6 p.m. with limited seating.
