NORTH LIMA
Two people were sent to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center after two-car accident Wednesday night.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on state Route 7, south of state Route 165, around 9 p.m.
Officers said a medical helicopter was called in, but both people were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Information about their conditions was not available.
Grant awarded
Youngstown
The Mill Creek Park Foundation was awarded a $15,000 grant to use at the new Children’s Play Area at the James L. Wick Recreation Area.
The grant, from the Kennedy Family Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, will be used to acquire Talking Tree Stumps, Nature Hunt Play Panels and the Tree Trunk Swing for the Tot Playground.
The Mill Creek Park Foundation supports the mission of Mill Creek MetroParks through the purchase or improvement of land or facilities, and provides educational opportunities for the public to enjoy.
“We are deeply grateful to the Kennedy Family for their generous gift to this project,” said MetroParks Executive Director Dennis Miller. “This award will go a long way toward completing one of the four components of the play area.”

Man robbed of cash
WARREN
A 60-year-old Fourth Street Southwest man reported being robbed of $1,700 in cash at gunpoint by two people at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The man said the robbery occurred in the 600 block of Fourth Street Southwest.
Raising awareness
Alliance
On Saturday, the United Ostomy Associations of America will join with ostomy associations around the globe to celebrate World Ostomy Day and Ostomy Awareness Day.
“Let’s Be Heard” is the theme for the day of celebration for those who have had ostomy surgery, friends, family and caregivers. Its goal is to raise awareness about ostomies, and shine a positive light on this life-saving surgery.
Wound, ostomy and continence nurses are involved in every step of an individual’s care. Alliance Community Hospital has three such ostomy registered nurses. They are Cathy Selway, with Alliance Visiting Nurses Association; Rosemary McLauglin, in the Wound Care Department, and Debra Clair, a member of the hospital’s wound care staff.

Couple beaten at home
WARREN
An elderly man and woman were severely beaten about 11 p.m. Tuesday night at their home in the 100 block of Washington Street.
Three men committed the assaults using guns and other metal objects, police said. Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Loss of water pressure

Due to work in progress at the water tower, water customers in the McDonald Water Distribution system will not have water pressure at midnight Thursday for about one hour.
