Menchies in Boardman and Poland Union Elementary School teamed up Nov. 12-13 for a tasty fundraiser that was mutually beneficial.

Michael Masucci, principal at the Union, came up with the idea for the fundraiser because his own children seem to end up at Menchies every night of the week.

“One night, I just asked Menchies if they do fundraisers and that kind of thing and that got us going,” Masucci said.

For two days and nights, anyone with a pink slip, provided by Menchies, and saying that they were there to support Poland Union, got to donate 20 percent of their purchase to the school. Many families loved the fundraiser so much they went both days to make purchases.

“It’s just such a wonderful, great, simple fundraiser. So easy and so fun, and it really helps the kids and the school out,” said Poland Union parent Shelly Fabio.

Menchies is a build-your-own yogurt style restaurant that offers a variety of flavors.
