Johnson to serve on Energy and Commerce committee

U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson of Marietta, R-6th, is among five incoming Republican members to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Energy and Commerce, the oldest standing legislative committee in the House, is responsible for overseeing the nation’s energy policies, telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health research, and interstate and foreign commerce.

Johnson, re-elected on Nov. 6 to his second two-year term, currently serves on the House Natural Resources, Foreign Affairs, and Veterans Affairs committees.

The 18-county 6th District includes all of Columbiana County and the southern portion of Mahoning County.
