Cookie and craft sale

The Bethel Lutheran Church, located at 425 Crestview Ave. in Boardman, will be hosting a cookie walk, soup and craft sale on Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. until they are sold out. There will be homemade Christmas cookies for $5 a dozen (your choice of cookies). A portion of the proceeds will support the church’s charities.

Dairy Queen hosting special price event

The Austintown Dairy Queen (146 N. Canfield Niles Road) and the Cornersburg location (3555 S. Meridian Road) are offering 12 cent Julius drinks, 12 cent DQ cones, $12.12 DQ cakes, $12.12 for 12 Buster Bars, $12 for five 12 ounce Blizzards, $12.12 for 12 chili dogs, and 12 percent off purchases on Dec. 12, starting at noon.

Customers need only to tell the staff 12 things they like about Dairy Queen in order to get the discount prices.

Edward Jones to host open house

Lori A. Ferreri, a local financial advisor for the financial services firm Edward Jones, has invited the community to attend a holiday open house from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday at 3649 Canfield Road, Suite 5, Cornersburg (Coal Creek Plaza).

Supper with Santa at Boardman Park

Boardman Park will be sponsoring “Supper with Santa” this year on Wednesday and Thursday at the Lariccia Family Community Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Enjoy supper with Santa while doing crafts, playing games and listening to the music. You will also have a professional photo to take home.

Tickets for Supper with Santa are now on sale at Boardman Township Park office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Tickets are $7 per Boardman resident and $9 for non-residents, 2 year-olds and under are admitted free. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Bonding with babies and books

Caregivers and their little ages 6 to 23 months can go to the Boardman library on Thursday at 10 a.m. for 20 minutes of language enrichment, including rhymes, songs and stories, followed by time to play and socialize. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

P.A.R. food drive under way

The Professional Alliance of ReSalers (P.A.R.) are sponsoring a holiday food drive from Nov. 14 to Dec. 14 to benefit those in need in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties during the holiday season. Customers are asked to donate non-perishable items, such as pasta, canned goods, peanut butter, cereal and canned tuna.

The Boardman library will host developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help your child (ages 4-5) become a successful reader on Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday puppet show

The Boardman library will host a holiday puppet show for the entire family on Dec. 11 from 7-8 p.m. and Dec. 12 from 2-3 p.m. Program will last one hour and after the story Santa will return the family stocking with a “surprise.” Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Pick up a stocking at the Boardman library to decorate.

Get your holiday presents gift wrapped at Barnes and Noble on Friday and support the library. The East Friends of the Library will wrap from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the TeenXTreme Teen Advisory Board will gift wrap from 5 to 9 p.m. Pick up a voucher at any public library in Mahoning County to use when you purchase books at Barnes & Noble. The library will receive a percentage of the net sales when vouchers are presented on Friday.

Trim a tree for tweens

Decorate an edible ornament for your tree at the Boardman library on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. The program will last one hour for tweens in grades 4-6. Call 330-744-8636 and ask for the Boardman library to register.

TAB Meeting is Wednesday

The Boardman library will be hosting the monthly Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. They meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Boardman library. Newcomers are always welcome. This event is for teens in grades 7-12.

Blood drive set at library

The Boardman library will be hosting the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross on Dec. 28 from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. to serve the needs of St. Elizabeth Hospital by taking blood donations to help the community.

Show what you know at library

Show and learn how to prepare no-bake holiday treats at the Boardman library on Thursday at 7 p.m. Sample and learn how to make treats in a snap without using a stove top or an oven. This event is for adults, senior adults and teens.

Blood pressure screening

There will be a blood pressure screening by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross at the Boardman library on Monday from 12:30-3 p.m.

Chess club meets tomorrow

The Boardman library will be hosting a chess club tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. If you don’t know how to play, they will teach you. This event is for teens, adults, and senior adults.

Jigsaw puzzle swap at library

If you have finished your jigsaw puzzle and want to try another, join other jigsaw enthusiasts at the Boardman library on Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. and swap puzzles. This event is sponsored by the Friends of PLYMC.

Holiday closing for libraries

All libraries in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County system will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 23-25 and Dec. 30-31, Jan. 1.
