Beaver High School evacuated after bomb threat
Staff report
LISBON
Students at Beaver Local High School were evacuated to the middle school for a couple of hours Thursday because of a bomb threat written on a restroom wall.
Superintendent Kent Polen said an assistant principal reported the threat in a boys’ restroom about 9:40 a.m. Polen called the Columbiana County Sheriff’s office and the high school was evacuated.
Students initially waited in the stadium, but deputy sheriffs closed state Route 7 so students could walk across to the middle school.
The Youngstown Bomb Squad also responded, and a search of the building found nothing harmful about 11:45 a.m. High school students ate lunch at the middle school and returned to the high school and resumed classes about 12:45 p.m.
Polen said school officials have some leads regarding who wrote the threat and he expects the incident to be wrapped up in a couple of days.
