Pets perish in suspicious Youngstown South Side fire

YOUNGSTOWN — Three pets died after a suspicious fire destroyed a home at 195 W. Myrtle Ave., the Youngstown Fire Department reported.

No one was home when the fire broke out at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The homeowner told the department she was not gone long and the house was fine when she left.

A battalion chief said there were multiple set points. The homeowner said her family does not have any problems with anyone.

She, her husband and their 19-year-old daughter are staying with a relative.

Two cats and a dog were killed, the chief said.
