Registrations are being accepted for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s 2013 Mahoning Valley Local Government Leadership Academy set for Jan. 29 to March 26.

Elected officials, those considering running for office, government and school leaders and employees and local business and nonprofit officials are invited to take part.

Classes are Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the chamber offices, 11 Central Square. Cost for the academy is $255. To register, call Mandy Shina, the chamber’s business services coordinator, at 330-744-2131, ext. 32, or email amanda@regionalchamber.com.

12/12 deals at DQ

Beginning at noon Dec. 12, Dairy Queen locations at 3555 S. Meridian Road and 146 Canfield-Niles Road will offer a suite of deals priced at either 12 cents or $12 to mark the date.

The promotional event will feature 12-cent DQ ice cream cones and small Julius drinks. DQ cakes and a pack of 12 Buster Bars also will be available for $12. In addition to several other deals, customers can get 12 percent off on anything by telling employees 12 “things they love” about DQ.
