Coroner identifies body found in Austintown woods

AUSTINTOWN

A man found dead in the woods Tuesday behind houses at the intersection of Evans Road and Norquest Road has been identified.

Michael Gordon Royal, 35, of Youngstown, was identified by the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office. The Austintown Police Department is not releasing any other information about the case as it is an ongoing investigation, according to Chief Bob Gavalier.

Gavalier and the coroner’s office release stated that no foul play including homicide is suspected in the death.

Royal was reported missing by his wife Tuesday morning, police at the scene said, and neighbors on Evans Road said a blue car identified as Royal’s had been sitting on the street since Sunday.
