Pair of Cards come up aces
Mooney’s Marcus McWilson, Courtney Love make first team

Cardinal Mooney seniors Courtney Love and Marcus McWilson both earned first team All-Ohio honors in Division III, the Associated Press announced Tuesday.
Both players are University of Nebraska recruits.
In eight games, Love made 110 tackles, including 19 for loss with nine sacks for the Cardinals (3-6), who failed to make the playoffs a year after winning the state title. The linebacker also forced four fumbles and broke up two passes.
McWilson, a defensive back, made 83 tackles in nine games with 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions and 25 pass break-ups.
He also averaged 43.1 yards per punt and ran for 98 yards per game with 13 TDs.
West Branch senior lineman Conner Sharp and senior running back Brenden Wells made the second team as the Warriors rebounded from an 0-3 start to finish 6-4 and capture the Northeastern Buckeye Conference crown.
Struthers senior running back David Stewart and Poland senior defensive lineman Shane Evan made the third team.
Poland finished 7-3 and earned a playoff berth.
Earning special mention were Niles’ Josh Krok, Stephan Yuhas and Tommy Duffy, Poland’s Anthony Kosec and Patrick Hiznay, Hubbard’s Larry Scott and Mooney’s Joe DeCapita. Niles and Hubbard both made the playoffs.
In Division IV, Brookfield senior running back Ryan Mosora was named to the second team after helping the Warriors finish 10-0 before falling to defending state champion Creston Norwayne in the regional finals.
His teammate, senior linebacker Jimmy Quinlan, was named to the third team.
No area player made the first team in Division IV.
Special mention honorees were Liberty’s D.J. Hight, Sherron Walls and Cody Bucher, Brookfield’s Jeremy Quinlan and Collin Harkulich and Lakeview’s Elijah Henderson.
Liberty won the All-American Conference National Division and captured a playoff berth.
Divisions I-II were released Monday.
Divisions V-VI will be released today, along with Mr. Football.
